Brief description: The target group of the study consisted of students attending Hungarian-medium secondary schools who, in 2000, were one year away from completing their secondary school leaving examination. In April 2000, a total of 595 students from 29 settlements and 36 educational institutions were surveyed. The study employed a method known as the matched-guise technique, also referred to in Hungarian as the szerepeket összemérő technika or ügynökmódszer. The primary aim was to examine students’ attitudes towards different languages and language varieties, as well as the stereotypes associated with them. The agent study was conducted using the procedure known in English as the matched-guise technique, referred to in Hungarian as the szerepeket összemérő technika or ügynökmódszer.
