Between 29 September and 1 October 2025, the 1st International Conference on Lexicology and Lexicography (LexiKonf 2025) was held in Budapest, organised by the Research Centre for Linguistics of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). At the conference, two researchers from the Hodinka Antal Research Centre, István Csernicskó and Krisztián Váradi, delivered a joint presentation.
The conference brought together internationally renowned scholars in the fields of lexicology and lexicography, and it was therefore a particular pleasure for us that the Termini Online Hungarian Dictionary, as well as the educational terminology database currently being developed with the support of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), could be presented in a dedicated section.

In their presentation, the researchers of the Hodinka Antal Research Centre illustrated the role of regional varieties in the compilation of the educational terminology database, placing special emphasis on the fact that, as a consequence of the Treaty of Trianon, Hungarian minority communities separated from Hungary have studied — and continue to study — within educational systems different from that of Hungary. As a result, numerous loanwords and country-specific terms have emerged in the educational terminology of Hungary and its neighbouring states, which the forthcoming database systematises and aligns with one another in the form of equivalent term pairs.
The abstracts of the presentations delivered at the conference are available on the website of the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the organisers for the invitation and for the opportunity to participate in this prestigious international conference. Both the presentations and the subsequent professional discussions contributed significantly to the further deepening of our terminological knowledge.
