On September 4–5, a partner meeting was held at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Budapest, within the framework of the project “Student Dropout Prediction Program Using Data Analysis Methods” (DROP). The event brought together representatives of four higher education institutions: Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education, Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, and J. Selye University. The aim of the program is to apply data analysis methods to predict and prevent student dropout.
On the first day of the meeting, participants reviewed and discussed the results of various student dropout prediction models, along with the possibilities for their implementation at universities. Special attention was given to the methodology of applying predictive results in practice, as well as to administrative and financial issues. The professional program concluded with a joint dinner, providing an opportunity for informal exchanges.
The second day focused on institutional interventions to prevent student dropout. Partners shared experiences and ideas, collected examples of best practices, and discussed how the results of statistical models could be responsibly and ethically integrated into university practices. The meeting concluded with a joint lunch, which created an occasion to further strengthen future cooperation.
